--About the Original Painting and the View--
The view is from the top of Mount Holyoke in Hadley, Massachusetts at Skinner State Park. It is of the Connecticut River looking towards Amherst. The original painting was done in oils in 2012.
Sophie Theroux is an "en plein air" painter in Western Massachusetts. She works in oils and most of her paintings feature the Pioneer Valley. "I grew up in the woods in Leeds gallivanting around the mountains and swimming in the Mill River. It was so awe-inspiring and I remember being so captivated by it. I was drawn to paint it so that I could have some way to respond to how beautiful it looked."
